Southern Burgundy excursions
Let the party begin!
If you are visiting our part of the world and want to experience something special, stick around! We organise day trips and excursions in Southern Burgundy, custom made for our Anglophone guests. You could for instance go on a discovery tour in a famous French wine region, crossing the vineyards on an electric scooter, including wine tasting and lunch at the table of a vintner. Or travel back into prehistoric times from the top of the Solutré Rock to the deep entrails of the Azé caves. Whether it is renowned tourist highlights of Burgundy with an English speaking guide or an intimate visit to the home of organic farmers and wine growers… we’ll make you live the real French experience!
Private excursions in Southern Burgundy with (or without) English speaking guide
Of course, you could travel around Southern Burgundy in your own private car, and figure everything out as you go. Plan your trip, pick restaurants and places to sleep using Google, Bookings and TripAdvisor. And then visit the most important attractions at you own pace again using Google to inform yourself on tourist and cultural information. Nothing wrong with that.
But what you could also do, is have a local expert create your private trip to Burgundy.
A French company that knows all the ins and outs of the region. That can advise you about hotels, restaurants and things to visit, and can take care of local transport as well, with or without an English speaking guide. This will make Burgundy unfold and reveal itself to you and your travel companions in a totally different way!
An original and authentic programme
Traveling with an experienced tour guide will help you discover many more interesting aspects of Burgundy. He or she can show you things you would never have found on the internet or the guide books. If only because you don’t know what you are searching for until you find it. For instance… if you come to visit the town of Tournus, you will certainly visit its 1200 year old abbey, that is in all the online guides. But would you ever – in the land of burgundy wines – have found this small local beer brewery and restaurant, hidden in a modern hangar, where a young chef serves a gourmet meal accompanied by an array of French beers for groups up to 8 persons? Would you have thought of hiring a canoe to paddle 5 miles downstream and come back upstream by (electric) bike? Would you have found this private ‘chateau’ where you can taste some excellent local wines and where the grower will tell you a fascinating story about what ‘terroir’ means to a family of wine farmers who’ve been wrenching the highest quality burgundy wines from the soil for generations?
Culture or relaxation?
This site is run by immigrants in France with a wide variety of knowledge and specialties. One of us married a vintner when she was a student coming for the harvest and has been a professional guide for decades. She knows everything about Burgundy history and culture. The other is more of a ‘bon vivant’ who has worked in the States, married a Japanese wife, moved with his family to France in 2001, redid a couple of houses and likes to tell stories about what it is like to be a foreigner among the Burgundians. Less facts, more fun. Some people will think that is quite enough to have a good time. Others will want to go deep into French cultural history and know all the details about roman churches and the Counts of Burgundy. Whatever your fancy, we will try to set you up with a guide who fits your profile and your expectations of a fun and interesting experience.
